Great Walks of Australia & New Zealand
- Medium to demanding hikes and walks -
Aerotravel International is offering this "Great Walks"
tour in January 2005. This tour culminates these twenty years
of client feed back and mostly our personal knowledge and experiences
to offer you a very special vacation. "Great Walks"
has the right name although the name implies that this is a hiking
[tramping, as they say down under] tour geared generally toward
the dedicated hiker. This tour is much more. The hiking or tramping
enthusiast will find what their looking for and much more. Their
traveling partners, if not as enthusiastic about hiking, will
find so many other things to do and see. This tour touches on
some of the Great World renowned treks but also puts you in areas
to enjoy and see each destination city you visit. Through special
designed walks through each city you will cover areas where no
other tour would take you. You will learn how to use the transit
systems, trains, trolleys, water taxies and of course you will
experience plenty of walking as you venture out. You will see
museums, art galleries, bridges, beaches, the famous Sydney Opera
House, markets, botanical gardens, and so much more.
Join Connie and I as we take you through New Zealand's South
Island including Christchurch "The city of flowers",
Mt Cook, Milford Sound and the "Fiordland" and the famous
"Routeburn Track". Stay in the beautiful Mountain town
of Queenstown. Then, we will venture on to Australia where we
will visit the Great Barrier Reef and the Rainforest, both of
which are rich with Aboriginal culture. Stay in the Rainforest
and experience Silky Oaks Lodge and the ancient beauty of a World
Heritage wilderness, the oldest living rainforest on Earth. Explore
the hikes through the Rainforest Trails, a memory for ever. Spend
a day out at The Great Barrier Reef, one of nature's natural wonders
of the world. Enjoy the city of Cairns while staying at the lush
Cairns Colonial Club Resort. Visit Melbourne, the most cosmopolitan
city of Australia, situated on the bank of the Yarra River. As
a special option enjoy the first Tennis Grand Slam Tournament
of the year, The Australian Open, with special next to player
section seating. Then onto to Australia's best kept secret, Tasmania.
While in Tasmania you will be guided by Tasmania's famous naturalist
and wilderness guide Mr. Craig Williams of Pepperbush Adventures.
Craig is also a famous bush chef and uses all of nature to cook
indigenous foods. His wildlife tours are world known and cannot
be outdone. You will enjoy a combination of two World Heritage
Lodges[Cradle Mountain Resort and Freycinet Lodge], which sit
next to some of the Great Walks in this area: the Dove Lake circuit,
Summit of Cradle Mt. and Crater Lake, Weindorfers loop and Wine
Glass Bay, to mention a few. Visit Craig's Upper Esk host farm,
stay in Platypus Lodge, throw in tours to Port Arthur, Australia's
first penal colony, eat some delicious food and wine (at the wineries),
observe the wildlife, wilderness, and indulge in an ocean cruise
and seafood banquet. There will also be some retail therapy for
those who enjoy shopping. All of this and more will make your
Tasmania visit the best nine days of your life. Your tour will
end in Sydney, best known for its famous Opera House and Harbour
Bridge, as well as the many water taxies which take you around
this metropolis surrounded by water. Walks are planned throughout
this city and surrounding surfing beaches. Your accommodation
through out this tour has you staying at World Heritage Lodges,
resorts in the Mountains, Tropics and Rainforest. Hotels on the
water front and selected hotels and Lodges will put you in locations
to enjoy some of the best walks or treks of the South Pacific.
Don't miss out on one of the most unique vacations offered. Please
